Our Story
A Family Team
Founded in 1994, our firm is a family-run Social Security Disability practice. Started by Michele and joined by her husband, Chris, a few years later, we now continue the work together as a husband-and-wife team alongside our son-in-law, serving clients with care and consistency across generations.
We strive to be caring and compassionate advocates understanding the needs of our clients while working hard to obtain the benefits they deserve.

Since our inception, Anderson Marois and Associates has enjoyed great success and has continued to grow. To date, we have helped tens of thousands of disabled individuals win their claims. Our practice is based in St. Petersburg, Florida but we represent claimants across Florida and the United States. . We handle claims before the Social Security Administration at all levels, from the initial application for benefits up to the Appeals Council level.

Nationally Recognized & Accredited
Chris and Michele are EDPNAs and Accredited Disability Representatives. In fact, they were in the first class of EDPNAs, the official designation by the Social Security Administration for non-lawyer advocates that are authorized to represent individuals on disability claims and receive their fees from SSA. In fact, they helped create the program from the start.
Each member of our team stays up-to-date on all of the Social Security rulings, federal regulations, updates, and changes to the process or SSA offices across the State.
We are members of national organizations that for disability representatives that advocate for the disabled and improvements at SSA. Chris is a Past President of NADR and its Legislative & Lobbying Chair, and Michele has previously served on the board of NADR and run its national conferences. She continues to assist in member education and events for the organization.

Michele Anderson Marois, ADR, EDPNA
Founder & Owner, Disability Representative
Michele has been representing disabled claimants before SSA for over 40 years and is considered an expert by her colleagues nationwide. She has spoken on a variety of complex subjects to national organizations for the disabled and their representatives. She has represented tens of thousands of disabled people in the State of Florida and local Tampa Bay Area.
Christopher Ackerman
Claims Manager
In 2025, Chris joined three generations of his in-laws' family business representing disability claimants before SSA, where he focuses on developing medical evidence, case coordination with SSA, and managing all aspects of claims at the Initial and Reconsideration levels and post-hearing appeals.

Chris is another owner of Anderson Marois & Associates, and has represented thousands of claimants across Florida. He has also spearheaded legislation to benefit disabled people, improve the disability process, and their representatives. He is a past president of the National Association of Disability Representatives.
